Hopefully one of you guys can explain place betting. I am aware about each way betting but what about place betting? Here are two examples of a race. One - let's say we have a race with six runners in the field and I place a £10.00 bet on, say the favourite and 4 places. So my bet is split into two £5.00 bets. So, my horse wins and I win with the initial betting odds - let's say 2.75.
But, two - let's say I place the same bet on the favourite and it comes either 2nd, 3rd or 4th. How much would I win? It would be a percentage of the original bet. Obviously in a six-horse race, if it comes 5th or 6th then I lose.
