Italy implementing a betting turnover tax to fight Covid19 caused recession

The Italian Council of Ministers announced the introduction of a new temporary turnover tax on sports betting until the end of 2021 in an effort to revitalize the country's economy after the Covid19 pandemic. The amount of the tax has been set at 0.5 percent of takings from all forms of sports betting, including online, offline, and esports betting.
The tax is set to build a sports relief fund.
